The Chiswick Choir, resident in London W4, was founded by the indefatigable John Thackray and has been directed by its present conductor, Alistair Jones for 25 years. His 20th anniversary, in 2004, was celebrated with a performance of Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius. This year we celebrate Alistair's Silver Jubilee with a concert of music by the great English composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams. The main work in the programme is the choral masterpiece, A Sea Symphony, premiered 100 years ago at the Leeds Festival. During its long career the Choir's repertoire has grown but is principally based on the European tradition from the 16th to 20th centuries.

The Choir consists of 14 adults and a similar number of choristers. Rehearsals for adults take place after Evening Prayer each week. The Junior Choirmistress holds rehearsals on Friday evenings. On the third Sunday morning of each month, the choristers and their music play a major part in the content of the Family Service. The children are invited to sing at a number of weddings and they also enjoy an annual outing.
